Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
When you open a nicely chilled Hovey Rosato, you might notice an aroma of rose petals as you pour your first glass. That first flavorsome sip reminds you of ripe red berries, but drier. Its complexity is intriguing and you take another sip, several in fact. The bright beautiful color adds to the enjoyment of the clean acidity and lingering finish.
Vineyard Notes
Direct from the rolling hills outside of Jamestown, CA, this fruit comes to us from the Gianelli Vineyards. The longstanding relationship between Hovey and Gianelli started when Chuck Hovey was the winemaker for Gianelli Vineyard. They offered him use of their facility to begin production of his own wine...and the rest is history.
Winemaker Notes
The fruit is sole sourced and never fails to impress. The fruit is pressed and left in contact with the skins for only a few hours, resulting in the beautiful copper red color of our Sangiovese Rosè. The wine is left to age in oak barrels for ~12months before being bottled.
Food Pairing Notes
The acidity of this wine make sure it can stand up to food. It marries well with Teriyaki Chicken, or Thai Curries. We love to serve it with a holiday Turkey, and of course, any and all cheeses.
